TEXAS INCENTIVES SUMMARY

Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF)
The TEF provides deal-closing incentive grants to companies considering new location in Texas as well as out-of-state locations. Potential TEF projects must demonstrate a significant rate of return of the public funding used for economic development, competition from out-of-state locations, create at least 75 new jobs in urban areas or 25 jobs in rural areas, have wages above the average wage of the county, and make a significant capital investment. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $10,000 per job.

Texas Enterprise Zone Program
An economic development tool for local communities to partner with the State of Texas to promote job creation and significant private investment that will assist economically distressed areas of the state. Communities must designate projects which are then eligible for state sales and use tax refunds on qualified expenditures. The refund is based on the size of the capital investment and the number of jobs created/retained and may be an amount ranging from a minimum of $2,500 to a maximum of $7,500 per job.

Skills Development Fund (SDF)
The SDF provides grants to help companies and labor unions form partnerships with local community colleges and technical schools to provide custom job training to companies. Average training costs are $2,000 per trainee; however, the benefit may vary depending on the details of the training plan.
